The WARFIRE forums are for anyone with dreams and passion
for our neighborhood.
The Mexican War Streets War fire web site recognizes everyone as place making artists. Whether you take care to share a flower on your sill or organize an event, all people equally have the power to stun others with passion and dreams of our neighborhood. Whether you can change the mood on a street corner by your presence or you take the time to know your neighbor you are a place maker. By removing the blinds from your front windows to expose your home to the street you are causing a real and impacting change on your street. It is the goal of WarFire to explore and promote the realization of and track public art within the Mexican War streets and surrounding areas.
They are beautiful, inspiring places. They have clear,
over-riding identities combined with elements of surprise. They attract
diverse people with a mix of continuous activity and a sense of safety and
comfort. They have affirmative relationships with neighboring spaces. And
they are living bridges to both local history and the global world we
inhabit.
-Holly Sidford, Boston Forum November 2002 …Some practitioners were focused on the physical
assets (built or natural environment) and others were focused on the human
and creative assets of a community. All were engaged in changing
perceptions, either of self, of community, or both.
